What they say about us
“Asinara’s Sea Turtle Rescue Centre (CRTM) is a partner in the TARTALIFE project, which aims to reduce sea turtle mortality caused by commercial fishing;
by testing new low-impact fishing gear, by involving hundreds of fishermen, by strengthening a number of Sea Turtle Rescue Centres and by opening new first-aid centres.”
“Asinara’s CRTM carries out environmental education, aimed in particular at school groups from across the region.
Through the TARTALIFE project, the Rescue Centre also promotes training for its staff by organising dedicated refresher courses.”
“The CRAMA Association (Marine Animal Rescue Centre) was founded in June 2009 by three young members with a technical and scientific background.
CRAMA works mainly on the rescue, care and release at sea of sea turtles, the monitoring and management of nesting sites, cetacean monitoring within the ‘Isola dell’Asinara’ Marine Protected Area, and scientific research.
The Association also runs awareness-raising activities aimed at people who work at sea (fishermen, the Coast Guard, the Forestry Corps, etc.), at pupils and students at every level of education, universities included, and at all the visitors who come to the island each year.
The Sea Turtle Rescue Centre is part of the Regional Network for the Conservation of Marine Wildlife in Distress, set up in agreement with the Region of Sardinia.”
