Turtles

Before releasing the turtles treated at the Rescue Centre back into the sea, we fit two metal tags on their front flippers, engraved with an alphanumeric code that allows the animals to be identified if they strand or are recovered again.

Satellite tagging, on the other hand, makes it possible to track precisely the movements and habitat of the tagged animal, improving knowledge of the species and supporting targeted conservation strategies. In 2011 we used this system to monitor a green turtle (Chelonia mydas), and in 2010 and 2023 two loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta).
