- PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Uniform colour, with fins often edged in a lighter shade. It has 2 dorsal fins: the first is positioned in front of the pelvic fins, the second ahead of the anal fin. The lower lobe of the caudal fin is less developed than the upper lobe. It has 5 lateral gill slits. It can reach 1.6 metres in length.
- HABITAT: soft or rocky bottoms, generally below 10 metres, but it can also reach great depths.
